As Google announces exciting new features that will be available across all android devices, Adarsh takes you through all five…
Your android device is about to get a lot cooler! Because Google has announced five new features that will take your phone’s ability to the next level. It was earlier expected that these features would only be available on the Google Pixel lineup, but it has since been confirmed that all five of these features will be available on all android devices.
Rollout of the features has already begun and is expected to reach all android users within the next two weeks.
Let’s look at the five features in detail:
- TalkBack
Aimed at increasing accessibility for visually impaired people and for those with poor vision, the TalkBack feature will provide detailed audio descriptions of images on your phone. The feature will employ the use of Gemini, Google’s advanced artificial intelligence model, to provide a comprehensive explanation of whatever digital image is on the screen.
These images could be photos in the gallery, online product photos or even photographs from posts on social media. Android’s screen reader will use AI to provide a richer experience for those who suffer with their vision.
- Text To Speech Feature
For those who prefer listening to reading, this Google Chrome feature will let users listen to articles and web pages instead of reading it themselves. Whether it is a blog post or a dessert recipe or a breaking news article, one can listen to anything on their browser.
The content consumption can be personalized for each user as the feature will allow them to adjust the speed, the voice type and even the language that they listen to.
- Android Earthquake Alerts System
Previously available only in beta, this feature is now available to all United States regions and territories. Using crowd sourced detection technology, this feature will provide potentially life saving warnings seconds before the ground starts shaking.
Once the shaking has stopped, the feature will offer tips regarding what to do next.
- Circle To Search
This feature will allow you to identify any song without having to switch apps. Whether it is a song playing on the user’s phone’s social media apps or on a speaker around them, Circle To Search will recognize any song and provide information about the song, the artist and even open a YouTube video of the song.
One can access the Circle To Search feature either long pressing the Home button or the navigation bar to activate Circle To Search and then clicking on the Music button to start searching.
- Offline Google Maps for Wear OS
This feature will allow users to access Google maps directly from their smartwatches even if they’re not connected to their smartphones. By enabling Wear OS with the offline functionality for Google Maps, you can make sure you don’t get lost even if you’re stuck in a new city without internet.
And when you’re connected to the internet, you can search for destinations using just voice commands or check your location with just a tap on your smartwatch.
Apart from making your android more useful, Google aims to increase inclusivity and accessibility for their users with these features.
