To become more accessible to a diverse global audience, Apple AI will add 8 new languages to its suite this April

The AI race is heating up and there are too many players in the game. Competition is cutthroat when it comes to technology and artificial intelligence so any kind of advantage needs to be leveraged.

In a bid to garner more users across the world, Apple Intelligence is all set to updates its AI suite with 8 new languages from April 2025.

This decision has been made keeping in mind the company’s commitment to inclusivity and user-centric innovation.

Expanding Apple’s Linguistic Horizon

As of right now, Apple operates only with US English. But from April 2025, they will adopt eight new languages into their suite. These languages are French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese.

Apart from this, localized versions of English will be introduced from the Singaporean and Indian audience. Apple realizes that the usage of English across the world is very different and there are colloquial words and slangs that need to be included for the language to feel relatable.

To ensure a seamless integration with Apple’s existing ecosystem, the update is planned in a way that it will coincide with the launch of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4.

Strategic Implications of Multi Language Support

As mentioned earlier, this decision is meant to expand Apple’s global audience. By offering AI tools in local languages, Apple will have an edge over its competition as this will definitely increase the adoption of these tools.

It will also expand Apple’s global footprint as the usage of local languages will enhance their connection with their global audience.

What the Competition is Doing

Apple’s decision is part of a broader plan among tech giants to include multi language capabilities in their offerings:

  • Google’s Gemini AI: Google is believed to be working with Apple to integrates its Gemini AI model on iPhones and other Apple devices. This is to give the user a choice between various AI models as this would increase the versatility and adaptability of AI tools in iOS.
  • Microsoft Azure’s AI: In a similar vein, Microsoft is also including multiple languages into its suite to empower global users to use AI tools in their preferred languages.

Future Outlook

With several languages being included, AI tools powered by Apple are set to become more personalised and intuitive. This will also improve productivity, accessibility and overall user satisfaction.

Apple will also help users bridge the divide with technology and make it more easier and convenient to use.

The Last Word

A multi-language approach is a game changer when it comes to global audiences. Apple as a brand is already loved across the world and has a dedicated following. By adding local languages to the fold, this fanbase is set to increase further.

By becoming inclusive, Apple has set the tone for other AI companies to join the bandwagon and open up their offerings in multiple languages.
