As Meta introduces its artificial intelligence feature on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook in India, Adarsh gives you the download….
As far as Mark Zuckerberg and Meta were concerned, they wanted users to stop switching to ChatGPT or Gemini whenever they were on WhatsApp or Instagram. So, they came up with a solution. They decided to introduce artificial intelligence directly on their apps.
At the Meta Connect in 2023, they launched Meta AI on all three apps: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. Built on their Llama 3 technology, it has been expanding globally since April 2024 and at long last has been introduced in India as well.
How to use Meta AI
WhatsApp users can tap the circular blue-purple icon on the top left corner to access Meta AI. They can either do this or access Meta AI in their group chats. From asking for restaurant recommendations to enquiring about hotel bookings or looking for places to visit nearby, AI can add an extra layer of support when it comes to making plans with the group.
Meta AI also comes with a feature called Imagine that lets you create and share AI generated images and gifs directly from the chat window. One can either make new images or modify and animate existing ones by using various prompts. Apart from this, Imagine can also be used to create invitations. For instance, if you want to create an invite for a friend’s birthday party, you can do so with Meta AI. It can also help with creating mood boards for ideas and inspirations.
On Instagram, you can use Meta AI in your DM by using the @ symbol and typing your query after that. On Facebook, Meta AI can be used to get additional context about the posts that come up on your feed.
Future Plans for Meta AI
Meta AI now comes with expanded language support as well. It is available in 7 new languages, including Hindi and Hindi-Romanised script. Along with these, it is accessible in French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish as well.
Meta’s current opensource AI model uses Llama 3.1405B. It is expected to soon update to Llama 405B. Once that happens, Meta AI will have improved reasoning capabilities which will allow the AI to understand and answer more complex questions such as Maths problem and coding.
Meta AI on other Gadgets
Meta AI is already available on Ray Ban’s Meta smart glasses. It is also expected to roll out the AI chatbot to Meta Quest headset in the USA and Canada in an experimental phase soon. It is also believed that Meta will soon replace the current voice commands on Quest.
Once this happens, it will allow users to control their headset hands-free. They will be able to get answers to questions, stay up to date with real-time information and do a lot more with just voice commands.
The Last Word
Sky is the limit as far as AI is concerned and Meta seems to be working overtime to make that possible. Very soon, all the technology we saw in futuristic movies and tv shows will become a common reality.
