Key Features of 5th Gen Xeon Processors

Intel’s 5th Gen Xeon processors represent a significant leap in AI capabilities, featuring AI acceleration in every core to meet demanding end-to-end AI workloads without the need for additional accelerators. The result is an impressive up to 42 percent higher inference performance and latency under 100 milliseconds on large language models with parameters under 20 billion.

Compared to the previous generation, these processors deliver an average 21 percent performance gain for general compute tasks and achieve a remarkable 36 percent higher average performance per watt across diverse customer workloads. The potential for up to 77 percent total cost of ownership reduction over a typical five-year refresh cycle further underscores the economic advantages of upgrading.

The processors support up to 64 cores per CPU, a threefold increase from the previous generation, with eight channels of DDR5 per CPU supporting speeds up to 5,600 MT/s. Enhanced inter-socket bandwidth through Intel UPI 2.0, reaching up to 20 GT/s, and compatibility with CXL Type 3 workflows via leading cloud service providers further enhance their capabilities.
