New Delhi: Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath said that it was unfortunate that cricket in strife-torn Pakistan was suffering due to security concerns.

The 39-year-old McGrath, who was in two minds about whether to come to the sub-continent for the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), said that there are talented youngsters in Pakistan and they are not able to get the taste of international cricket.

"It is unfortunate that cricket in Pakistan is suffering due to instability in the country. It is, in fact, a shame and the most horrific thing is that now cricketers are also being made target by terrorists," the Delhi Daredevils player said.

McGrath also said that international teams have stopped touring Pakistan and cricket in that country will continue suffering until the governments takes some strong steps.

Asked was it a tough decision to come to India, McGrath said: "It was a tough decision. I have to go through lot of ups and down in the last nine months. My wife (Jane) passed away and it was tough to leave my kids to their grandparents. But the challenge for me was to take a step ahead and be committed to my two-year contract."
