In the annals of cricketing history October 1, 1978 shall always be a red-letter day. It was when a searing on-field rivalry first electrified an ODI venue. India, led by Bishan Singh Bedi, and Pakistan, by Mushtaq Mohammad(in pic), took each other on in a 40-over match at Quetta, the fruit garden of Pakistan, which had at one point of time served as a safe haven for the retreating Humayun and his one-year-old son Akbar, later to become one of India`s greatest emperors.
