Explosive batsman who struck 148 in his fifth ODI in a home series against Pakistan in April 2005 and a match-winning 183 not out against Sri Lanka at home later that year to record the highest one-day score by a wicketkeeper. The selectors, headed by chairman Dillip Vangsarkar, have named this Jharkhand lad, the current Twenty20 skipper, as captain of the Indian ODI team. He is also the vice-captain of the Test team.
