They have named their studio 'Essence' and rightly so. Ashima and Leena have maintained the essence of Indianness in their range of designs.
It would be ironic to use the word 'timeless' in connection with fashion, which is fickle by nature. But that is what the duo is trying to do. They want their range of clothes to have that essence of classicism which will remain in fashion all the time. Again, the word 'essence' comes in.
The designs range from the casual to ornately formal. There promise to maintain Indianness is always kept. Naturally, the patterns take form in the Shahpurjat village of South Delhi and later travel to their stores such as Gyans, Heritage, Benzer, Sheetal and of course, 'Essence'.
Aashima is the creative element and Leena is the whizkid who manages the nitty-gritty. They will sure have some surprises in store at the LIFW show. India Syndicate
