The Person:

Born in a small town Rameswaran, Kalam has come a long way before becoming the first citizen. Kalam grew up in a family of seven children (four brothers and three sisters). When he was child, he spent hours throwing small stones into the well and observing the effects produced on the water surface. Kalam studied at the local elementary school and went to the nearby town of Ramnad to do his secondary education. He did his B.Sc. (Physics) in St. Josephs College, Trichy, and did aeronautics in the Madras Institute of Technology.
