New Delhi: A 23-year-old woman on Tuesday survived an alleged suicide attempt after she jumped from the tenth floor of a building in east Delhi. Her fall was broken by an air conditioner on the seventh floor and then a fourth-floor signboard, and finally by trees, the police said.

The victim identified as Shalvi, an executive of a private bank, jumped from the high-rise building, Roof Towers, in Laxmi Nagar area in the afternoon.

The police said she miraculously survived the suicide attempt as she first tumbled on to an air conditioner on the seventh floor of the building and then hit a signboard on the fourth floor of the same building. She finally landed on the trees near an adjoining building.

Shalvi, who got trapped in the trees, was taken down by Delhi Fire Service official. She was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri City Hospital with grievous head and back injuries.

“Chances of her survival are very slim. We have not found or recovered any suicide note. Her father Rajesh Kumar has been informed,” said a police official.
