UK church bans yoga on its premise

Nevada: Bridge Methodist Church in Radcliffe, near Manchester (UK), has reportedly banned an over-50s yoga group, which has paid £60 a week for the last about ten years and met there twice a week, fearing its classes could be spiritually confusing.

Group founder member Iris Turner said: “This is an insult…we are offended…yoga helped the group's health.”

She invited the church minister to take part in a class to ‘allay' her fears. Currently this group of about 30, which has members up to 82 years old, is homeless.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) on Friday, said that although the church had every right to use its premises as it wanted, but yoga, though founded by Hinduism and whose traces went back to around 2000 BCE, was a world heritage and liberation powerhouse and anyone could enjoy its benefits.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that yoga was the repository of something basic in the human soul and psyche. About 16 million Americans, including many celebrities, were said to practice yoga. Yoga never had any formal organization and yoga practice had been handed down from one guru to the next.

Zed argued that turning this yoga group of older people away from the church resulting in it becoming homeless was simply “un-Christian”.

“Love and compassion for the helpless was the hallmark of Christian ethics. Jesus Christ clearly told the world to help the helpless, defenseless and downtrodden and love them and he showed the way also. Church authorities should act like a shepherd to this flock as Jesus Himself said that he had sheep from other pastures,” he said.

"About 16 million Americans, including many celebrities, were said to practice yoga." No, they practice little more than vanity-feeding gymnastics. The act of reunifying themselves with the source -- the very basis of all yoga derivaties -- is neither first nor foremost in American's minds. They attend "yoga classes" like the attend the local McDonald's. It's basically fast food style business in the Americas, this "yoga."

All christians and all muslims must just visualize how they and their relatives and friends will look like in their coffins or boxes a few months after they are buried under soil after death.Would they like to see those dead bodies after a few months or after a few years? Do you think that those bodies will not be there in the coffins and that they would have flown to heaven or hell? Where is this heaven and hell? Are they in planet Mars or Pluto? Has any one seen any flying coffins or dead bodies going to heaven for enjoying virgins and wine as promised by Quran&Bible? The semitic religions islam and christianity have been fooling their cult followers promising them heaven after death with virgins and wine for killing or converting non-muslims or non-christians,etc and by demolishing places of worship of infidels or kafirs like hindus, sikhs, etc. See how foolish and how moronic are those thoughts in quran and bible. That is why hinduism is the most logical and scientific religion which shouts that whole world is one family respecting all beliefs including even atheists and that heaven and hell are in one's mind.See how scientific and logical is the custom of hindus cremating the dead bodies and not allowing them to rot under the soil for so many years and to disfigure their images for so many months and years? Shame, muslims and christians for their stupid and unscientific beliefs and terror promoting verses in their terror books.

I don’t propagate for any group who favours terror or any means of violence. But reading your comments , it seems you are either ignorant or acting ignorant of all heinous crimes done and still doing by your so called Hindu supporters in the name of religion.. How can you justify their actions ??? Don’t just think it s only a group from the Muslim and Christian Community advocates violence it is very much clear from Indian History and even at present there a few activists of Hindu groups who resort to violence in this country... If you are a true Indian you should be not supporting this either.. Open your eyes.. It s a democratic world where everyone needs to live and let live others...
