What current project (or idea) of yours are you most excited to share with everyone at TEDIndia?
I'd like to share the idea that speculative design can play an important role in creating new, alternate futures by creating opportunities around emerging technologies. These opportunities can empower people from all walks of life, to not only imagine the futures we would like to live in, but to start building them today.
And I will illustrate this idea through my recent collaborative project, 'The Power of 8', where I brought together eight ordinary people from different walks of life to collectively build our visions of the future.
Diminishing natural resources, increasing food shortage, and the rapid death of bees were our main concerns in this project. Together we imagined alternative ideas which brought these issues to the forefront through direct public engagement, and we are now building on this success to take the project to the next level.
Who are the people that have greatly inspired you and your work?

Steward Brand's vision and commitment to address pressing concerns through intellectual rigour and knowledge exchange is deeply inspiring. Other people who inspire me include critical designers and tutors Tony Dunne and Fiona Raby, writer and food advocate Carolyn Steel, graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf and founder of Sewa Ela Bhatt.
Lastly, both my parents, with their deep sense of commitment to conserve the country's heritage, and compassion towards architectural education, have been a long standing inspiration in my life.
What are you most looking forward to at TEDIndia?
I am looking forward to the injection of inspiration that TED is so reputed to provide. Being in my home country would make it even more exciting, as I am so keen to hear and meet the people who are currently at the forefront of both: intellectual and the grassroots innovation.
What is your favourite TED Talk?
I have several favourite TED Talks, but amongst the recent ones, I found Taryn Simon's 'Photographs' Secret Sites' very inspiring. Also Stefan Sagmeister's talk 'The Power of Time Off', about the importance of taking time off to produce new, creative, passionate work struck a deep chord.
What does India mean to you?
Home. Love. Inspiration.
