Mumbai: Police officials probing a threatening email allegedly sent from an American national's computer in Navi Mumbai, are investigating if his computer was hacked through a wireless internet connection, a senior police official said.
"Haywood (the American national) used to access the internet using a wireless modem and we are investigating if someone used the network to hack into his computer which was then used to sent the threatening email," the official said.

Officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad had raided Haywood's residence located in the Sanpada area of Navi Mumbai after the IP (Internet Protocol) address from which a threatening e-mail was sent prior to the Ahmedabad serial blasts was found to be that of the American's computer.
"The hard disk of the computer has been sent to the Forensic laboratory in Kalina for further investigations," the official said adding that the report from there was awaited.
The police are also probing the possibility of a malicious software having been installed on the computer which in turn forwarded the e-mail at the designated time, the official said.
