Cairo: An Indian sailor in Egypt hasbeen quarantined and put under medical observation oversuspicion of having swine flu infection, a health ministryspokesperson has said.
"Quarantine authorities have detained a 30-year-oldIndian sailor Kamal Pest at Alexandria fever hospital oversuspicion of contracting the A(H1N1) virus, raising the numberof suspected cases to 101 in the country," Egyptian HealthMinistry spokesperson Abdel Rahman Shahin said yesterday.
Of these, 100 cases have been tested negative for thevirus so far by the testing laboratory.
The Indian sailor is the only one under medicalobservation in the country, he said, adding, "Egypt was free ofany swine flu cases till now."
To keep a check on people with swine flu infectionentering Egypt, the government has installed thermal scanningcameras at airports to measure the body temperature ofpassengers, Shahin added.
About 48 countries have officially reported 13,398cases of swine flu, according to World Health Organisation'slatest updates.
