Islamabad: Pakistan on Tuesday asked India to deactivate its forward air bases and move troops back to the peacetime locations, saying Islamabad was ready to hold a dialogue with New Delhi.

"India should deactivate forward air bases and relocate forces to the peacetime locations," Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).

'No question of war' with India: Gilani

The minister said: "Positive developments have taken place in the last 48 hours and we welcome (Indian External Affairs Minister Parnab) Mukherjee's denial of a war ultimatum."

Relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated following the Nov 26 terror strikes in Mumbai that left over 170 people dead, including 26 foreigners.

Kayani stresses on avoiding conflict with India

India has been maintaining that the 10 terrorists who ravaged the financial and entertainment capital of India had come from Pakistan and were members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit based in Muridke, near Lahore.

Qureshi said Pakistan would positively take action against those found involved in terrorism, if evidence was provided against them by the Indian authorities.

Column: Why is Pakistan Indo-centric?

New Delhi says it has shared enough evidences with Islamabad about the involvement of the Pakistani terror group in the Mumbai carnage. But Islamabad has denied having received any "concrete" proof.

"We need to learn to live as good neighbours," said the minister, adding that his country wants to continue the peace process with India and is ready to hold a dialogue with New Delhi on all the outstanding and bilateral issues.

2008 a year of turbulence, strife for Pakistan

The minister said US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had called President Asif Ali Zardari and talked about her country's desire for peace in the region.

On Monday Iranian and Chinese officials also met the Pakistani political and military leadership to discuss the situation after the Mumbai attacks.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Robert Brinkley in a meeting with the president is reported to have conveyed Prime Minister Gordon Brown's concerns to Zardari.

Pakistanis a s s es are on fire and being kicked hard. They are feeling the pinch economically , as it costs a bomb to keep the troops on their side.Already a bankrupt country cant continue this for long. We need not indulge in war with Pak to bleed them. Hit back economically, and India if mobilized troops on Pak boarders it should stay put there, and Pakistan knows well all war rhetoric will not take them anywhere. It hurts them more than India to keep the troops at the boarders. India should snap all economic ties , cultural ties with Pakistan this time till they hand over the persons who are listed by India. Pakistan knows more than any one else that in the vent of war they have no match for India. The most importent thing our Govt should do is 1. a MASSIVE Man hunt should be launched nation wide to locate the missed Pakistanis, who after arriving in India disappeared. 2. All over staying Pakistanis in all major cities. 3. Publish their photographs in all news papers all over India , so that the common people can recognize them and inform the Police. The congress Govt should stop playing the appeasement politics and do something concretely against these kind of elements and this is the right time. But has the Congress has the guts to take such action is a question.

People are loosing patients with congress and its ruling elite. Our PM, FM, Ruling party president would like to be recognized as peace lovers by world, but they are not identifying that the same world looks at India as inefficient and incapable nation – just because our leaders. People will teach a lesion to Congress by dumping them in Indian Ocean in coming elections for their continued inaction.
