Los Angeles: A teenaged Sikh girl, who went missing last week from her Nevada home, was found on Tuesday with her 29-year old brother-in-law, with whom she was having a "budding romance," media reports said.
Karamjit Kaur, 16, who came to the US eight months ago from India, disappeared last week after she went on a bicycle ride but was found "unharmed" with Parviner Singh, the husband of her pregnant sister.
The two were traced by the Nevada police to a motel in Merrillville in Indiana, according to police, Post Tribune online reported.
The Reno police were assisted by FBIs' Merrillville Gang Response Investigation Team in locating the missing girl. Media reports said Kaur had a "budding romance" with Singh and investigators were told by the girl's classmates that a man older than her visited her during school breaks.
Reno police spokesman Steve Frady said Kaur was with authorities in Merrillville. Singh was not in custody and no state or federal charges have been filed, Wendy Osborne, public information officer with the FBI, said.
Kaur left her house on Wednesday evening to ride a bike but did not return, prompting the family to inform the police. Singh, who had been visiting the Kaur family for the last few weeks was supposed to return to Indiana two days before Kaur went missing.
Singh, who co-owns a convenience store in Merrillville, left for Indiana instead on Wednesday night, along with Kaur, police said.
