If a Kancheevaram or a Banarasi silk brocade sari is gathering dust in your trunk, pull it out and take a fresh look. A brocade sari border can be easily given a new look if innovatively stitched with another silk or chiffon sari. But be careful while tailoring as the lighter fabric may gather ruffles at the stitchline. One solution is to pick up a silk or chiffon in a contrast shade to that of the Banarasi. If you want to make the chiffon look brighter, get matching butis embroidered on the body. |
