HONEY
Often said to be more beneficial than sugar, honey contains just about 75 per cent simple sugars, 25 per cent water and a lesser amount of vitamins and minerals. In fact, it's higher in calories -- 1 tsp of honey contains 25 calories, compared to 16 calories in 1 tsp of sugar. Though darker varieties contain good amounts of flavonoids, which act as antioxidants and lower the risk of heart disease, it is advisable to stick to smaller quantities.
