| | Sudan is the largest country in Africa, which is involved in a more than two-decade-old civil war that has claimed millions of lives. Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir is said to be a graduate of the 'Idi Amin School of Dictators'. He seized power in a military coup on 30 June 1989 and immediately suspended the constitution, abolished the legislature and banned political parties and unions. His army has routinely bombed civilians, tortured and massacred non-Muslims. Al-Bashir is also known for providing sanctuary to terrorists only to turn against them. For example, he turned over the notorious Carlos the Jackal to France in exchange for financial and military aid. | | |
