Indo-Pak dialogue will not be wideranging: Sources

2009-09-23 23:50:00

On the eve of the meeting between the Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi, authoritative government sources have indicated that the dialogue will not be wideranging.

The brief reportedly given to Krishna is that he will only focus on the issue of terrorism with Qureshi.

Authoritative sources have told ANI here that the dialogue will be restricted to terror and humanitarian issues.

The ministerial meeting is expected to take place on 27th September on the sidelines of the UNGA. Before the Ministerial meeting Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir will have dialogue in which they are expected to review all issues of bilateral importance to both countries.

Sources have also told ANI, India is not alarmed over recent incidents of ceasefire violations and rocket attacks from Pakistan.

They further added that there is no rise in the incidents of ceasefire violations but whenever there is a military-related change over, they make their presence felt.

However, security officials remain on high alert in the border areas in Kashmir. by Naveen Kapoor(ANI)
