The megathrust earthquake that unleashed deadly tidal waves on Asia was so powerful it made the Earth wobble on its axis and permanently altered the regional map. The resulting Tsunami killed thousands of people in Asia. The National Remote Sensing Agency, Dept of Space, Govt. of India made all possible efforts to monitor this catastrophic event. Satellite data of different resolutions was acquired, analysed and the value-added information is being disseminated to concerned. Picture on right shows the coastline of Tamil Nadu.
