One of India`s top religious leaders Kanchi Sankaracharya was arrested in connection with the murder of Sankararaman, an official of the temple in November. Jayendra Saraswati has been in Vellore central prison since then. Under Jayendra Saraswathi, who succeeded late Maha Swami Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi at Kanchi Math, the Math had been gaining wealth, fame and access to top politicians.
