Voters in Maharashtra on Wednesday belied fears that there might be a low turn-out at the polling booths because of Sarvapitri Amavasya. On the last day of the Shraadha Pitru Paksh, when most Maharashtrians offer prayers and food offerings to their ancestors, between 55 and 60 per cent of 6.59 crore voters turned out to vote.
