Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Monday night said he had broken all ties with estranged nephew and MNS chief Raj Thackeray.

"One who is the enemy of Marathi people is also my enemy.I don't care about blood relation which indulges in selfish politics," the Sena chief said in a statement here.

'Marathi people should explain why they ditched Sena'

Thackeray and his son Uddhav, who is Sena executive president, have blamed MNS for the defeat of the Sena-BJP alliance in nearly half a dozen Lok Sabha seats in the state.

They said MNS candidates ate into Marathi votes, resulting in the defeat of the saffron combine which drew a blank in Mumbai that has six Lok Sabha seats.

"I'm not  in touch with Raj Thackeray now,"Thackeray said. The Sena chief's statement comes after seniorparty leader Manohar Joshi today said Raj and Bal Thackeray were in touch over phone.

Election results

Raj broke away from the Shiv Sena in 2005 and floated his own outfit, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in 2006.
