Fire due to short circuit in Taj Hotel

Mumbai: A fire broke out on the 20th floor of the Taj Hotel's new building in south Mumbai early today.

Fire officials here said the building, one of the sites of the November 26 terror attacks, was empty when the incident happened. There are no report of casualty in the incident.

An official statement from the Taj Hotel said the fire near an unused kitchen of the 20th floor was detected by the hotel's maintenance staff at 7.15 am today.

It said the cause of the fire could be a short circuit in the kitchen.

Fire tenders put out fire and the situation was under control by 8.15 am, the statement said, adding that there was no damage to property and no one was injured during the incident.
