New Delhi: A Delhi government panel Saturday visited Modern School, Vasant Vihar to probe the alleged negligence of the school authorities that lead to the death of 17-year-old student Akkriti Bhatia on Monday.

Sunita S Koshik, the regional director of education, lead the team to the south Delhi school Saturday afternoon and questioned teachers and the school management about the incident.

"We checked whether the school has adequate medical facilities to handle emergency situations. We also spoke to the school authorities and teachers and others," said an official.

Akkriti suffered an asthma attack in the school Monday and died while being taken to hospital. Her parents have held school authorities responsible for her death and have demanded principal Goldy Malhotra's resignation.

Her autopsy report indicated she died of asphyxiation stemming from an asthma attack.

The Delhi government Thursday ordered the probe following protests by parents and students.

The panel will submit its report within 15 days. The school and the Delhi Commission for Proection of Child Rights have also been probing the matter.
