Congress apologises for Babri Masjid demolition

2009-03-07 22:23:24

Lucknow: Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Saturday apologised for the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992 when the party was in power at the national level.

"We would once again like to say sorry to the nation for the demolition of the Babri Masjid as at that time the P V Narasimha Rao led-Congress was in power.

"We would also like to clarify that we will not have any kind of association with (former BJP leader) Kalyan Singh who was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh when the (mosque) was demolished," Singh said.

Cong will meet BJP's fate: CPI

Singh, Congress general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, was here to flag off and address a rally organised by the minority cell of the party to press the Uttar Pradesh government for utilising the funds allocated by the central government for several schemes for the minorities.

Earlier in the day, he said the BSP government in the state had a lethargic attitude in implementing central government schemes.

"The central government had sanctioned Rs.1,300 crore (Rs 13 billion) to the state government for various schemes for the minorities. However, the fund has yet not been utilised and will lapse on March 31," Singh said.

Lets take it pre-demolition. BJP as a political Party has no business to demolish any structure which has some sanctity. Its not a question of Hindu or Muslim or tomorrow Christian. Blaming Shri P.V.Narasimha Rao for the demolition is unfortunate and uncalled for. Will the Congress Government disown the legacy of Shri P.V.Narasimha Rao? His Economic reforms, Security Reforms, Foreign Policy Reforms? His internal security reforms? Has the Nation and Congress party forgotten his road map and implementation of Assam,J and K, LTTE, Naxal, Foreign Exchange, return of Gold to India, Economic revival, Punjab accord and so many other initiatives. The N-bomb is also the legacy of Shri P.V.Narasimha Rao. Will the Congress Party and Nation forget this real Hero who fought against everyone and everything for the Nation? He is a bigger hero than Pt.Nehru or Vallabhai Patel or Lal Bahadur Shastri. Ask your inner voice. The treatment meted out to Tanguturi Prakasham, Burgula Ramakrishna Rao or P.V.Narasimha Rao by Congress will for the future will make sure no good, selfless leader is ever born again. The only way to survive seems...the Politics of hate and hits below the belt ....The present day Lok satta is no exception...True Nationalist leaders are not allowed to prosper nor survive...
