Kanpur/Vadodra: Effiges of umpires Steve
Bucknor and Mark Benson were burnt by cricket fans in Kanpur
and Vadodra on Sunday to express their anger over their howlers
which influenced the course of the second test between India
and Australia in Sydney.
Soon after India lost the match to hand Australia a 2-0
lead in the series, dozens of cricket fans came out on the
streets in Kanpur and shouted slogans against the umpires
faulting them for the country's defeat.

Later, they assembled at Deputy ka Parao and burnt
effigies of the duo.
In Vadodra, cricket fans shouted slogans against the
umpires and members of Australian team including captain
Ponting and warned they would not allow Australia to play in
the city in future till its cricketers tender an apology.
Kiran Raj, a former students leader at M S University,
said they were hurt over horrenduous decisions that cost India
the match.
Fans also said the International Cricket Council should
not depute the two umpires in India's next two Tests.
Fans felt had Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly not been
ruled out, the result of the match could have been different.
