Bhubaneswar: Stepping up the attack on Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, BJP on Wednesday accused the BJD supremo of breaking the 11-year-old alliance between the two parties "unilaterally" in eleven minutes.
Trusting Naveen was a dangerous step: BJP
Refuting Patnaik's allegation that BJP had broken the alliance, the saffron party's Orissa unit President Suresh Pujari said, "It took barely one minute for Naveen Patnaik to cut ties with us. It is ridiculous on the part of Patnaik to claim that BJP broke the alliance of 11 years in 11 minutes. It is a blatant lie," he said.
Accusing Patnaik of having decided to cut ties long ago, Pujari claimed that BJD chief had also established contact with political parties like NCP, CPI, CPI-M and JMM much in advance for their support.
BJP, BJD part ways
Everybody knows it was Naveen Patnaik who first announced collapse of the alliance and his party's decision to go to the polls separately, Pujari and another senior BJP leader Biswabhusan Harichanda said. "After Naveen broke the alliance, we had no option but to pull out of government and withdraw support," they said.
On BJP's decision to take legal steps challenging Naveen government's victory in trust motion by voice vote, they said party's national secretary Dharmendra Pradhan is coordinating the matter and taking steps for the legal move.
