Chennai: Shrenik Rao, creator of the TreeCycle project, CEO of a media company and an avid cyclist, started an arduous and exciting bicycle journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on June 5, 2008. His aim is to spread awareness about planting trees. This endeavour will conclude on India’s Independence Day on August 15.
Shrenik will be covering almost 4000 kms, 116 towns in 80 days (seven states and two union territories). Individuals from all walks of life, from all over the globe, can pledge to plant trees in support of the United Nations Environmental Programme’s (UNEP) Plant a Billion Trees campaign.
Shrenik will interact and discuss issues relating to the environment and global warming with individuals from all walks of life - from Bollywood stars to businessmen, from cricketers to cab drivers, from doctors to diplomats, from environmental activists to engineers, from farmers to footballers, from intellectuals to industrialists, from politicians to pilots, from students to snake charmers.
TreeCycle will reflect on a variety of opinions while educating and enchanting its viewers with a kaleidoscopic visual milieu. TreeCycle is thus an ambitious adventure to inspire and encourage all to pledge to plant trees.
