Kolkata: In an apparent damage control in theRajdhani hijacking case, a second FIR naming Maoists and agroup backed by them has been filed by the CRPF as against theRailway police's first FIR in which no one was mentioned.
"When the police forces were heading towards the trainon October 27 they were fired upon by the People's CommitteeAgainst Political Atrocities(PCPA) and Maoists. An FIR hasbeen lodged against them for attacking the police andattempting to prevent them from doing their lawful duty," asenior police officer said.
FIR in Rajdhani hostage case has no mention of Maoists
The CRPF had joined the state police in securing theBhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani express to end the five-hourhostage drama in Banstala in West Midnapore district in WestBengal on Tuesday. The CRPF FIR was in addition to the FIRfiled by the Government Railway Police(GRP) at the same policestation on the same night.
Additional Director-General (Rlys) Dilip Mitra saidthe GRP in its FIR named only 'unknown miscreants' for thetrain hold-up inviting criticism.
The Railways have also been officially informed aboutthe train being taken hostage, he said.

Mitra, who attended a high level meeting, said thatsecurity on trains and stations in the vicinity had beenthoroughly reviewed and the measures would require adequatefinancial and manpower resources.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary AsokMohan Chakraborty, Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen, DGP BhupinderSingh, besides SER General Manager and ER Assistant GeneralManager.
