Militant groups still operating in Pakistan, says Antony

2009-11-06 21:20:00

Defence Minister A K Antony on Friday said that all the militant camps in Pakistan are intact with many of them operating in the shadow of army bases.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of a function hosted in the national capital, Antony said: "There are various terrorists groups operating from Pakistan, but despite our repeated requests, all terrorist camps are intact. Many of them are in the vicinity of their army bases. It is a matter of concern and worry to us."

He further said that concrete dialogues with the Pakistan Government can only be possible when Islamabad takes steps against militant outfits operating on its soil.

"Unless Pakistan takes sincere action against these terror groups and dismantles these terror outfits, it is very difficult to improve our relationship with Pakistan," Antony said.

Earlier on October 28, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had expressed the Indian Government's willingness to "talk to anyone" having "meaningful ideas" to promote peace in Jammu and Kashmir and had offered to resume dialogue with Pakistan provided it curbed activities of those engaged in terrorism in India.
