Definitely writers duo Paruchuri Bros have lost their midas touch since they are unable to come up with interesting subjects after “Samsarasimhareddy” and again their latest film Usha Kiron Movies “Madhuri” falls into the same category. It is inspired by a Hollywood flick which also inspired Hindi film “Jung”. It was about bone marrow of a convict but the duo changed it to kidney transplantation. Usha Kiron Movies spends lavishly but unfortunately a hit still seems to be elusive in their second innings. Director Mouli known for his comedy flicks in Tamil provides some leighter moments in the film and just follows the script without trying to enhance it. Anjana, daughter of Nasser and Ambica, is a pop singer. Nasser sacrifices his ambition to become a musician and takes up a job to support his family. Later he grooms his daughter and makes her a pop singer. She leaves with her friend Priya to Shimla to attend the Music Festival and meets Abbas, a videographer, in train and both fall in love. Their bus is hijacked by terrorists led by Asish Vidyarthi and on the request of Madhuri he leaves Abbas alive and fleds. Nasser takes her back home and after initially rejecting their love finally agrees to get them married. Abbas who comes along with his family to see Madhuri surprises everyone by demanding that Madhuri should stop singing. When Madhuri swoons down in the midst of the show Abbas disclosed to everyone that she is suffering from renal failure and doctor insists that the donor should be a kin of Madhuri. When Nasser and Ambica disclose that Madhuri is their adopted child and she has a brother the whole team rushes to different places in search of her parents and brother. Finally he turns out to be Asish Vidyarthi, a terrorist and it is known through his mother that he loves his sister very much. Madhuri locates him and gives him cash to discard terrorism. In the end, at railway station Abbas and Asish’s mother plead Asish to come back and he surrenders to save his sister. She recovers but looses her brother and all ends well. The debutant music composer Murali delivers a pedestrian score and spoils his chances of making it big. Abbas is as stone-faced as ever and Madhuri gives a good performance despite being her maiden film. |
