With heroine Swathi aka Colors Swathi starring the film, there were high expectations about the film thanks to her cool hit – Ashta Chemma. However, the expectations were belied in this latest venture Kalavaramaye Madilo.

Sreya (Swathy), a big lover of songs and music, joins a star hotel as singer, to get extra bucks for the family. Her mom (Dehi Rajeshwari) works as the audit office. She cherishes a dream impossible – to sing a song under the music direction of AR Rehman.

Sastry (Tanikella Bharani) succeeds in arranging a concert for Sreya with the help of a classical singer Rao (Vikram Gokhale). Rao dislikes the performance of Sreya and chides her. Taking this as a big challenge, the girl joins Sastry’s company to sharpen her talents in the music department.

Srinu (Kamal Kamarj), a London-returned, happens to meet Sreya in a hotel. Their friendship soon turns into love. Seeing Sreya getting dejected frequently due to humiliations for her bad singing, the guy vows to stand by the girl in realizing her dream. Whether Sreya realized her dream or not will form the climax.

Swati shoulders the entire burden of the film. She did her part extremely well. There is a marked difference between her characterization in the first and second halves. Despite the fate of the film, she awaits a good future ahead in the industry.

Kamal Kamaraju could come up with a muscular look compared to his earlier film Avakaya Biryani of Sekhar Kammula. Somehow, the audience would feel that he did a bit of overdose of action in some scenes, making the result a dud in the theatres.

Well-known stage artiste from Maharashtra Gokhale could do justice to his debut in Tollywood. For his role as Rao, Gokhale got the voice of SP Balasubramanyam in the film, which comes as a big minus point to the film. Telugu screen.

Tanikella Bharani did his role with perfection as usual. Delhi Rajeshwari is adequate as mom to Swathi. Pragathi as hero’s mom is a misfit with artificial acting. There is no novelty in the story. Direction is mediocre. Screenplay is lagging and often slipped into confusion and boredom. Dialogues too are pale and not natural. Sarath Vasudevan’s music is a big letdown.

Verdict: A big disappointment
