Publicity designer Ramesh Varma, who cherished a pungent ambition to
become a director with Mallepuvvu starring Bhumika in the title
role, later couldn’t realize the same. As a result, he left the
venture to his friend V. Samudra and the film turned into a dud.
Afresh Ramesh Varma embarked on yet another dream. This time, he took
up Ride a cool college love story, but with an interesting flow of scenes.
Ride is fun, flashy, cheerful and pleasant enough particularly for the
college guys and girls. A number of films have in the backdrop of two
guys clashing over a girl. But here, two boys lock horns with each
other over a motorcycle. Heroes - Tanish of Nachhavule and Nani of Ashta Chamma - have a continuous combat over a bike. The vehicle becomes an integral part of the screenplay, besides serving as a full-fledged character. It evokes the hidden yet constantly cherished dream of every college going youth to own a motorcycle, particularly for the purpose of flirting with a girlfriend. The film also projects the passion among the middleclass guys for a motorcycle. Yet, the story unfolds the pleasant feel of friendship, which gets stronger when it emerges out of misunderstandings. Mahesh (Tanish) dreams of owning a bike. By the time, his mother gifts the same, his father gets sick and confined to bed. As against his wish to flirt on the bike, the guy is forced to do service to his dad. Another guy Arjun (Nani) suffers to get a bike of his own thanks to the inability of his middleclass family. Vexed with the repeated promises each year, Arjun lifts the bike of Mahesh. From here onwards, begins the clash between the two, with each one claiming it to be of his own. In the course of time, their enmity turns into pure friendship. The director comes out with a touchy finish, arousing the aesthetic senses of the audience as they leave the theatres. Nani and Tanish have come out with natural histrionics which spread a feel of entertainment in the theatres. Svetha Basu Pasad and Aksha did the job as girlfriends and brought justice to their contribution to the story. Navdeep did a cool cameo. The music is nice and synchronizes with the flow of the film. Cinematography is impressive. Verdict: A feel good film |
