After making much hue and cry over the title of the film and finally leaving it to the choice of the audiences Bahumathi, fails to deliver.

Venkat Ramana (Venu) is an upright police officer with progressive thinking. His spouse Banumati (Sangeetha) is an irritant, and keeps on pestering her husband to get corrupt so that the home could be full with gifts and cash. But, Venkat can’t do this. One day, Venkat purchases a lottery ticket and they go to a hotel. But they have no money to pay the bill and assure the waitress that half of the lottery ticket’s money would be given to her, if the ticket wins!

Interestingly, he wins the lottery and Venu keeps up his promise. He shells down Rs. 5 crore to the waitress on which the wife enters into a wretched quarrel. In spite of riches, the woes of the hubby continue. Why? This forms the crux of the story. Venu played the role a wife’s victim to perfection. Sangeetha as a humorous and greedy wife makes a good choice. Shabna Khan is glamorous as the second female lead and shows promise. Krishna Bhagawan’s episodes are fun to watch. Though the comedy track between Brahmanandam and Ali sounds routine and not that much entertaining, it just passes off. The episodes between Kota and Sunil are good. Interestingly, Ali and Sunil have danced much to the relief of the audience while hero Venu despite his shaking his long legs fails to impress.

The film is a direct lift of Hollywood flick with Nicolas Cage and Bridget Fonda in the lead roles. However the film gives a feel that this subject will not suit the Telugu audience. SV Krishna Reddy tried his level best to provide humor and comedy, but his efforts go futile as his tricks could not make the audience hold their patience.

SVK succeeds to some extent in stuffing sentiments in the second half. Wife’s realization is just a normal subject as seen in umpteen Telugu films. Dialogues are laced with punch and the one in which a wife is compared to a cell phone is hilarious.

Songs at regular intervals test your patience while cinematography is average.

Verdict: Disappointing
