| Operation Duryodhana – the movie's title taken from a portal's expose exercise – has nothing to do with the original. It is just a name for name sake. Posani Krishna Murali, known for his innovative subjects, has swooped on the voters, say the general public. He takes a hard look at them for total cleansing of politics and home department. Scene by scene, he holds them responsible for corruption in the society. The movie opens with some interesting scenes, but turns out to be a mere documentary-type with a lot of sermonizing and violence. A naked (private parts blurred) Bhagavantudu (Srikanth) walks down the road carrying the chopped hands of a thug wrapped in a newspaper as a gift to a party leader Somasileswara Rao (Chalapati Rao). He squats like a dog at the feet of this politician. Soon he earns the confidence of the party secretary Ruchi (Mumaith Khan) and gets the MLA ticket and turns against the cops.. He instigates the public to attack the police, who in turn take to mass resignation. It is complete chaos and anarchy in the state as Chief Minister is forced to resign. In the climax, Bhagavantudu himself sets things right. Why did he do it forms the crux of the story. Srikanth is simply superb in his dual shades as an honest cop Mahesh and a corrupt politician Bhagavantudu. His military-like hairdo and politician's dress and mannerisms are convincing. No doubt, this characterization will bring kudos to Srikanth. Mumaith Khan, the item girl has a role this time- beating MLA with chappal and the climax belongs to her. She has exposed to the maximum in two song sequences and a massage scene which will appeal to the masses. Chalapati Rao plays the role of a greedy politician, whose death the hero plans with two pinches of sniffing powder (mukkupodi. And if you want more bad men there is a pack of villains as rowdies and political aspirants! Kalyani appears as the wife Srikanth. Her death is shown in a macabre way – as she is stoned to death, while her three kids die on the spot. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Krishna Bhagwan, Venu Madhav, Duvvasi Mohan, Brahmanandam and MS Narayana as MLAs, Naga Babu as an honest police officer are all good. This is completely the projection of Posani Krishna Murali's mindset on the society. He wanted to say clearly that the public is responsible for its own fate. His screenplay is clubbed with umpteen numbers of scenes and separate tracks which is confusing and boring at times. The opening scene in which Srikanth is shown fully naked brings embarrassment to women audience. Cinematography is impressive. Music and background score are average. Verdict: Average |
