| We go for superstar movies to laugh, cry, see never-seen-before locations, enjoy our favourites dancing to hit music, fighting the baddies, and the underdog triumphing in the end. The public wants to be entertained and want to forget all their worries and have a nice time. Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule is a designer family feel-good film that gels well with Venkatesh’s image among the masses. Venky carries the film on his broad shoulders, and watch it for him. Director Selvaraghavan has moved away from his format, and made a carbon copy of various Hindi films in the same genre like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge with – Venky (SRK), Trisha (Kajol), Kota (Anupam Kher), K.Viswanath (Amrish Puri) and Swati (Mandira Bedi)! He has also helped himself to the library of Karan Johar, Sooraj Barajatya, Trivikram and all Venky’s earlier feel good romantic films! Well done Selva! Ganesh (Venkatesh) is an irresponsible son of a master (Kota) who lives off his father till he sees a girl Keerthi (Trisha). He is smitten by her beauty and soon manages to get a job in the same software company that she works. He joins as her trainee and after a couple of episodes in India and Australia, he proposes to her. But he is shocked to hear that she is already engaged to her Bawa and her marriage will happen soon. Ganesh is heartbroken and his dad meets Keerthi who humiliates him. The old man dies due to a heart-attack and Ganesh decides to go with his friend Vasu (Sriram alias Srikanth) to his village where he is getting married. More surprise for Ganesh when he sees that Vasu’s bride-to-be is none other than Keerthi. Now it is our hero’s turn to win over everyone in the huge household and the bride. The first half is totally city based and post interval the story takes a U turn and shifts to the village milieu. Venkatesh is there in every frame and he is likable as Ganesh. Trisha looks good, has a meaty role and she does her best. Kota proves once again that he can shine in any kind of role, while same cannot be said about K.Viswanath. Sriram has an insipid role while Sunil and Suman Shetty makes special appearances. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is pleasing especially the number. On the downside, AMAV is slow, predictable, lacks originality with entertaining factors missing. There are plenty of continuity problems and some of sick toilet jokes were totally unwanted. On the whole, Adavari Matalaku Arthale Verule will not disappoint, if you are a Venkatesh fan. Verdict: Average |
