Sukumar is known for presenting his film stylishly in an innovative manner. He tries out the same with Jagadam but the script is too weak, which an ordinary man can neither understand or enjoy! It moves at a snail pace and the back and forth technique of story telling used in various films in the past is used here. Technically rich, the film has some stunning visuals thanks to imaginative camera of cinematographer Ratnavelu.

The story is about a youth Srinu (Ram), a middle class guy who is fascinated with violence. His mother wants him to become a doctor but his dreams are weird! He wants to control a gang of his own much like his childhood hero Manikyam (Pradeep Rawat). He befriends Manikyam's henchman Ladda and becomes close to Manikyam. He settles the 'danda'. He also loves Subbu (Isha) who also falls for him. Because of her, he runs into a scuffle with his own leader Manikyam. Rest of the drama is a cat and mouse game between Manikyam and Srinu.

The problem with Jagadam is a wafer thin weak script and also the characterization of protagonist which is lackluster. We just cannot identify nor sympathise with him. The director uses Prakash Raj's character, a Commissioner of Police, to give moral angle to the story but it comes too late by the time audiences feel exhausted.

Though camera work and rich production values gives the film a glossy look, it has too many clichéd moments. Hero's kid brother drawn towards violence and his death bringing a change in him is the only scene that is worth commendable. Rest of are all, old wine in a tetra pack. There is too much of violence that will surely not appeal to family audiences.

Ram steals the show with his flexible body language and acting style. His verve reminds of you of Pawan Kalyan and Allu Arjun. The actors who played Ram's friends have also done a commendable job. Pradeep Rawat looks different from his regular villain characters. Newcomer Isha, an average looker is just average.

Devi Sri's Prasad’s peppy tunes are a great asset to the film. All the songs are foot tapping and well-shot. The camera of Ratnavelu is topnotch. Editing by Srikar Prasad is excellent.

Technically good but evidently Jagadam is not so much a plot-driven film.
