| Evadaithey Nakenti is a sort of make or break film for Dr Rajashekar as success has been evading him for some time. The film may not reclaim his lost glory as the original angry young man of Telugu movies but it certainly does win back his fans. Despite a clichéd story, the characters and mediocre screenplay makes Evadaithey Nakenti a decent action thriller watchable. Directors V Samudura and Jeevitha (Rajashekar's wife) have taken only a fraction of Lion a Malayalam film, and changed the milieu to suit the tastes of Telugu audiences. The storyline provides novelty to some extent and fortunately the action episodes are not illogical. Army Major Surya (Rajasekhar) visits his home on a holiday. The honest officer notices that his father, a minister (Raghuvaran) stoops to any level to get power. Surya's brothers-in-law are also opportunistic bureaucrats and his aim is to put an end their family member’s corrupt activities. After a series of events, he decides to plunge into politics. Hence he resigns his army post and become a minister to cleanse the entire political system. Surya gets elected to power and gets Home Ministry. How he achieve his goal is rest of the film. Amidst all these, he also has time to romance with two girls (Samvrutha) and a cop called Mysamma (Mumaith Khan). The film's screenplay (penned by Rajashekar himself) is heavily borrowed from other blockbusters. In this film, the directors and screenplay writer play a safe game, just incorporating the right elements at right time – a sizzling song, some powerful dialogues there and action episodes. Rajasekhar is in great form after a long gap. He looks good and dignified in the role of a politician. Added to this, Saikumar's voice helps him further. Samvrutha has not much to do except appearing in songs. More than her, it is Mumaith Khan who gets more footage and best song in the film. Senior actor Raghuvaran is at his best. Technically music director Chinna's re-recording is good along with Madhu Naidu's cinematography and Parachoori Brothers dialogues. Evadaithey Nakenti might go well with its target audience – mass and B centre audiences. Verdict: Average. |
