| Sekhar Kanmula has emerged as the avant-garde Telugu director withGodavari. Unarguably, it is a feel-good soft romantic film with outstanding photography, top-line performance from lead actors and perfect presentation. Sriram (Sumanth) is a soft-spoken nice guy who wants to marry Raji (Neetu Chandra) his childhood sweetheart. Though he has an inclination towards politics, he just does not have the attitude for it. Raji is not interested in him and she marries an IPS officer selected by her parents. So the wedding is fixed at Bhadrachalam and the family leaves by a boat named Godavari from Rajamundry. A broken hearted Sriram meets Seeta (Kamalinee Mukherjee) in the boat. Seeta is an independent woman who wants to be an entrepreneur but soon they realize that they are made for each other and their friendship slowly develops into love.
The movie works largely due to Kamalinee Mukherjee’s performance. Sekhar has beautifully etched her character and she steals the show. Watch her ooze sensuality in the song Andaaya Lene…”. She is going to go places. Sumanth is cool and impressive. Music by K.M.Radhakrishnan and the camera of Vijay.C.Kumar creates the right mood for the film. On the downside post interval the film drags a bit and needs some trimming.Sekhar Kanmula has delivered another path breaking film with Godavari. A clean romantic entertainer worth a watch. Verdict: Good
