| At a time when larger-than-life heroes, glamour girls, lewd dialogues and phoney item numbers are ruling the roost, director Karunakaran is determined to swim against the tide with his new film Happy. The basic story is borrowed from a Tamil film Azhagiya Theeye with minor nativity changes. Bunny (Allu Arjun) is an orphan who is a pizza delivery boy. Madhumati (Genelia) is a studious medical student and daughter of a caste-based politician. Bunny and Madhumati meet each other in a strange situation and are forced to get married in a turn of interesting situations. The rest of the story is all about how the couple starts liking each other, after a series of incidents. Though the story is wafer-thin, the presentation and music is impressive. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s songs are all hummable and are picturized in an innovative manner. The pick of the album is ‘Ye Hrudayam’…. The highlights of the films are Allu Arjun and his immense screen presence and his dancing abilities. Genelia is perfect foil to him as her character has enough scope to perform. The editing of Antony, background score and camera by R.D.Rajasekhar are noteworthy. But the second half could have been trimmed a little bit to make it more racy. On the whole Happy is good fun while it lasts. Verdict: Above average
