| It is high time that Dr Rajasekhar graduated from hero roles to character roles gracefully, which will be more convincing. His latest film Nayakudu a remake of that Malayalam film Runway tests the audience patience and manages to evoke a sense of déjà vu. Why does Rajasekhar pay huge amounts and buy remake rights of mediocre flicks from other languages? The original Runway itself was criticized for being freemake of Amitabh Bachchan classic Deewar with the story of two brothers- one an underworld don and another an upright police officer with mothers sentiments thrown in! Raju (Rajasekhar) has convinced his brother doing his IPS and mother back home that he is in Dubai and sends money for the family. Actually he is a big dealer in spirit used for alcohol distillation and is better know as ‘Spirit Sambasiva’ and is currently in jail. Meanwhile his younger brother (Riaz Khan) is on duty as a police officer to trace the people behind spirit business. Sambasiva’s arch rival (Rami Reddy) adds more confusion as a cat and mouse game starts. The story and presentation of director Kodi Ramakrishna is – “old wine in new bottle”. The shot takings and situations are all taken in an old fashioned manner which makes the proceedings move at snail pace. Rajasekhar hams as usual, Namitha flits in and out and on the whole Nayakudu just does not make it to the finishing point. Verdict: Avoidable
