| 143 is Puri Jagannath’s latest film in which he has launched his brother, Sairam Shankar as the hero. The story is quiet confusing and the pace of narration is slow. Siddhu (Sairam Shankar) and Sanjana (Samiksha) are neighbours and lovers who decide to elope. Fate takes a turn for them when the bus in which they are traveling is attacked by naxalites. They are separated as Sanjana ends up with the naxalites and Siddhu lands up in the house of a TV anchor (Flora Saini). Both think that the other is dead leading to a twist in the drama. The rest of the story is on how they meet later. The lead pair are a major letdown as Sairam Shankar has miles to go as far as acting is concered. He also lacks screen presence and has a poor voice. Samiksha too has to improve on her acting and dancing abilities. Brahmanandam, Ali, Venu Madhav and Naga Babu takes care of comedy. Though the screenplay written by Puri Jaganath is racy, there are far too many hangovers from his earlier hit films like Idiot. Has Puri lost his magic touch? Technically, camera of Chota K.Naidu and music of Chakri are above average. On the whole the film will disappoint you. Verdict: Below Average |
