| By Moviebiz After a long gap, veteran director Kodandarami Reddy is back with a comedy film, that raises few laughs. The film sags due to its weak script and buffoonery passing off as a comedy. Tappuchesi Pappukoodu is another remake of a Malayalam comedy Kakkakuyil. The director and Mohan Babu must have hoped that the film like recent Malayalam remakes Aaduthu Paaduthu and Hanuman Junction would be a hit! The story is set in Mumbai where a Telugu youth (?) Sivaji (Mohan Babu) arrives looking for a job. But his bag gets stolen the very first day and later he bumps into his classmate Ramesh (Srikanth) who is now a professional cheat. After a few days Sivaji along with two others plan a bank robbery. One of them Kota puts the money in a wrong bank locker, before he is arrested. Now the friends land up in the house of a rich couple who are both blind. They start living in their posh house posing as their grandson, whom they have never seen. But the irony of it is that the couple assumes that Sivaji is their grandson but the voice is that of Ramesh. Soon a girl Radhika (Gracy Singh) arrives and she catches them red handed, but soon realize that the friends are not cheats. She had actually had come down to Mumbai to tell the old couple that their grandson is no more. But on seeing how happy they both were in the company of Ramesh and Sivaji, she decides not to reveal the truth. Will the old couple find out that truth and what happens to the stolen money from the bank forms the rest of the story.
Mohan Babu and Srikanth have equal role and they play their roles effortlessly. Srikanth is a revelation in this film as he has excelled in comedy with his mannerisms and timing. Gracy Singh is good as Radhika. The music of Keeravani is peppy though they are rehashed from old hits and one of the numbers have been copied from Adnan Sami’s ““Lift Karade..”. On the whole the film is an entertainer. Verdict: Buffoonery |
