| By Moviebiz Nagarjuna’s Santhosham is a typical chiffon designer wear type of movie with good songs and exotic locations. This genre of films were popularised in India by Yash Chopra and his associates. There is no storyline and the director has given priority to the presentation and feel of the film. Karthik (Nag) is a handsome architect who falls in love with Padmavathy (Gracy Singh) who works in a computer firm. After a couple of song ‘n’ dances both of them decide to get married. Her cousin Bhanu (Sreya) who had a soft corner for the suave architect, keeps her love in mind and helps the lovers to unite. Much to the opposition of her father Padmavathy elopes with her lover to New Zealand and start a new life there. But soon after a child is born to them, Padmavathy dies in an accident. After a few years later Karthik along with his daughter Lucky comes back to India to see Padmavathy’s parents. Initially the father is reluctant to accept his son-in-law, but soon starts adoring him. Bhanu, once again starts loving Karthik, leaving her childhood lover (Prabhu Deva). The story then moves to a predictable end as the rich widower is able to win over everybody. The film is inspired from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Nagarjuna has come out with a good performance especially in the second half, where he is middle- aged man. One wonders why Gracy Singh had to do the role of Padmavathy, as she appears in only 40 minutes of the film. Sreya is also good. Debutant director Dasarath has done a fairly decent job, and the music of R.P.Patnaik has good hummable melodies. Verdict: Chiffon Dreams |
