It is a film with a social message, told in an interesting way, without being much preachy. Surprisingly enough, the hero is not the run-of-mill, good guy. Instead, our hero Gaja (VNR) is quite a bad sort. He works in a finance company that sanctions loans. He drinks and gambles and above all, has the habit of lusting after married women.

No woman is safe from him and he doesn’t stop short at even forcing himself on his newly married colleague, killing her by accident and then foisting the case on her husband!

Later he even seduces the wife of his boss, enticing her with sweet stories. When the boss comes to know, he sets himself and his wife on fire. But Gaja continues unabashedly in his crimes and refuses to listen to his friends whom he throws out himself.

Surprisingly, this man falls in love with Pooja ( Akshaya) whom he sees at a temple but she gets married to her cousin Ganesh ( VNR in a double role!). Now as luck would have it, Ganesh is the new boss of Gaja, replacing the old one who died.

Now Gaja is only more determined to get Pooja and threatens that he will seduce her one day with her consent. Though Pooja tells her husband not to trust Gaja so much, he doesn’t listen to her. How Gaja plans his seduction and whether he succeeds in his plans or is reformed forms the rest of the story.

There are some loopholes like why are the hero Ganesh and anti-hero Gaja identical in looks? The way Ganesh suddenly appears on the scene is a bit confusing. The debut director has attempted to give a message about the strength of women but the manner in which it is conveyed leading to an abrupt ending is difficult to digest.

However, the songs are not bad with a kuthu number and a duet between the podgy hero and the slim heroine. VNR could have slimmed down for the role to add to the visual factor though he has done justice to his roles as Ganesh and the opposite Gaja, treating them both with a different body language.

Akshaya has done her bit as the wife caught in horns of a dilemma with a trusting husband and a lecherous staff member who guilefully escapes being caught every time. But why Gaja never comes under the purview of the police and why he is never caught are unexplained.

Looks like the director concentrated more on the social message and let a few lapses creep in. Overall a commendable effort but does it make for good viewing pleasure? Not really.

Verdict: Average
