Durai Films can be divided into two broad categories – those made with sensibilities that will entertain all section of audiences and those that have been produced with the sole purpose of catering to the front benchers and making money.

Arjun's Durai has no pretensions and director A.Venkatesh has made it for the second category. If you love a larger-than-life hero, crude comedy, six fights, five songs including an item number song and plenty of action, then you will not be disappointed!

The plot and situations are very similar to umpteen action films that you have seen in the past many languages, though the basic thread is taken from Jackie Chan's Who am I? . And the scene where the villain strangles his Father to death is taken from The Gladiator!

The story is about Durai (Arjun) a good Samaritan and a do-gooder farmer also a social worker being framed in a false case of murdering his guru and an upright minister ( K.Viswanath ). But our super hero survives and manages to escape from the hands of a huge police force but suffers from amnesia and doesn't remember anything about who he is or was.

He is now Raja (Arjun) an assistant of Ambi (Vivek) a cook at marriages and runs a hotel. Raja spends most of the time in the first half trying to remember who he is and what happened to him as some memories start haunting him in his dreams.

Raja meets a girl (Kirat Bhattal) at a marriage and she falls hook-line-sinker. Soon some goondas start chasing him and following a fight, he gains back his memory. All this leads to a predictable climax as our superman hero takes on the baddies and beats them to pulp.

This is yet another proper action packed movie with the usual mass elements thrown in. The highlight of the film is Arjun and the well choreographed stunts that keep you interested in a clichéd storyline.

Kirat Bhattal is an eyesore in every sense of the word - her costumes are bad, her acting so weak you want to urge her to go for some acting class so she might pick up a few tricks. Vincent Asokan is wasted in a thankless supporting role. Vivek has become a bit of a bore and some of his jokes have become ad nauseam. The new villain is promising. The music of D.Imman is loud, and he has made a mess out of 'Rajathi, Raja..' re-mix!

Verdict- Mass masala
