Namitha’s midriff, Malavika’s bath under a studio waterfall nor Tamanna’s belly button could do anything for S.J Suryah - Sakthi Chidambaram’s Vyapari! We really can't figure out what the actor and his director was trying to convey through this film - a bit of sleaze and fun or steamy mother sentiments?

Here is the far out plot- The film starts with a prelude of a famous scientist and bio-technologist Stephen Raj (Nasser) cloning a man, for the first time in India in his lab! He is sent away to the jail, as it is against the law of the country. The story then shifts to Suryaprakash (S.J Suryah), a tycoon who has 364 businesses!

In his office, the pictures of Bill Gates, Mukesh Ambani,Ratan Tata, Aziz Premji, Narayanamoorthy, Kalanidhi Maran and a few of the other multi-millionaires are displayed prominently; they are all his role models! Surya’s ambition in life is to be the world’s richest man, and at least to have Rupee 1 more than Bill Gates! His punch line throughout the film is- 100 % profit.

Suryaprakash does not have any human emotions, and is only obsessed with amassing wealth. He does not even go home to his family consisting of his loving mother (Seeta), a sister and her children and a brother-in-law (Vadivel) who lives off him. Then there is this college student Savithri (Tamanna), who wants to do an article on him so that she can become close to him and probably marry him. A model (Malavika) who models for his soap is lusting after him though she got different ideas. And there is this beauty queen (Namitha) who has been spurned by him, trying to seduce him!!

But our man is “100% Vyapari” and is totally focused on making more money. One day he tastes the home-made food cooked by Savithri, and realizes she could become a celebrity chef in his proposed five star hotel. Due to certain circumstances he is forced to marry her but refuses to consummate the marriage, till he fulfills his ambitions. Meanwhile due to constant family pressures he thinks of having his own clone! Suryaprakash meets Stephen Raj, now out on bail and clones himself! How the clone wins over his family, reforms him and makes him a better human being forms the rest of this stupid yarn.

The audiences at the theatre were screaming and abusive. Does S.J Suryah and his Vyapari team think that our audience are a bunch of idiots? Outrageous is a pretty good word to describe the film. The basic idea is ripped off from Shah Rukh Khan’s, Amol Palekar directed Paheli, where a rich morose moneylenders ghost comes back as a friendly spirit. Here instead of a ghost, a clone comes back to spread happiness.

Hamming outrageously, S.J Suryah’s performance is over the top and loud. The girls liberally display their wares, while Vadivelu’s comedy track is predictable. Deva’s music is terrible and the lyrics are in bad taste. There is enough double entendre, crude gags and smutty lines to keep die-hard Suryah fans happy. And in the climax, why all this steamy mother sentiments, does it really matter? By the time the film reaches its climax, half the theatre has walked out!

Verdict- Avoidable
