Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram(PEAS) is directed by Suresh Krishna, who did Rajnikanth films like Baasha and Baba. It is a remake of that blockbuster Kannada film Jogi which was later remade into Telugu as Yogi.

The story is about a village simpleton (Dhanush) who is very close to his mother (Archana). He goes to the city in search of job but ends up as the leader of an underworld gang. He becomes the kingpin of all activities while his mother craves for his love. She sets out to the city in search of him and stays with a journalist (Meera Jasmine). Will the mother and son meet each other and under what circumstances? –All this is told in a very sentimental manner.

The title "Parattai…" itself is taken from the Parattai character name of Rajnikanth in the classic landmark movie "16 Vayathinile". Dhanush has a new-look in the film. Archana and Meera Jasmine, two national award winning actresses come together which has music by Guru Kiran.

The cast also include Nassar, Livingston, Riyaz Khan, Santhanam, Kadhal Dhandapani, Adhithya, Ajay Rathnam, Manobala and Kadhal Arun
